Steve’s guidance counselor suggested he consider Montana State University. He knew Steve, and his love of skiing, fishing, and the outdoors. Steve took a chance, and enrolled without a campus visit. It was one of the best decisions he ever made.
It was meant to happen. Our first day there we saw a Vermont truck with a “ Mad River Glen - Ski It If You Can” bumper sticker. Later we would sit next to its owner in an orientation session. This boy, nicknamed “Vermont,” turned out to be great friend and a member of his Montana Family.
We managed to meet many, but not all of his friends. They are such a wonderful group. Thinking of the love they showed us after Steve’s death brings tears to my eyes.
